Reducing waste through practical packaging improvements

Premier continues to make steady progress in reducing waste across its packaging and operations through practical changes that are already showing measurable results.

But sustainability is not only about big commitments. It is also about the everyday decisions suppliers make to reduce waste, improve packaging and operate more responsibly.

At Premier, small changes are adding up to meaningful impact. New bread packaging weight reduction initiatives launched in 2024 saved 12 tonnes of plastic in just six months.

" Blue Ribbon’s Re.Bag.Re.Use initiative is helping to reduce waste by upcycling used plastic bread bags into new products, while also empowering women entrepreneurs."

In confectionery, Mister Sweet cartons and confectionery lines have gained Rainforest Alliance certification, with new on-pack recycling logos added to all refreshed packaging.

These improvements matter because they reflect the kind of operational discipline and responsible thinking customers increasingly expect from the businesses they buy from.

For Premier, reducing waste is not separate from how we work. It is part of building a more efficient, more accountable business for the long term.
